60 Seconds is a survival strategy game where players manage a family attempting to survive after a nuclear explosion. The game begins in a suburban house where the player controls Ted, the father of the family. When the alarm sounds, the player has only sixty seconds to search the house and gather supplies before running to the underground shelter. The items collected during this short preparation phase determine how well the family can survive the following days underground.

The Sixty-Second Preparation Phase

At the start of each session, the player moves through different rooms of the house and collects essential supplies. The limited time forces quick decisions because it is impossible to carry everything into the shelter. The player must decide which family members to rescue and which items are most important for survival.

The house contains several possible resources such as food, water, tools, and equipment. Because the preparation phase lasts only one minute, the player must plan a route through the house and pick up items quickly. Each playthrough may produce different situations, which means the available resources and challenges can vary.

Managing Life In The Shelter

After the preparation phase ends, the game moves to the underground shelter where the family attempts to survive day by day. Resources collected earlier become critical for long-term survival. Food and water must be distributed carefully so that family members remain healthy and capable of handling future problems.

During shelter management the player typically deals with several tasks:

·         distributing food and water to family members

·         responding to random events that occur each day

·         sending characters outside to search for supplies

·         repairing equipment or handling emergencies

·         deciding how to react to visitors or unusual situations

These decisions directly affect whether the family survives or faces failure.

Random Events And Difficult Choices

Each day in the shelter introduces new events that require a decision from the player. These situations may include illnesses, equipment problems, requests for help from other survivors, or unexpected dangers outside the bunker. Some choices may provide useful rewards, while others can lead to negative consequences.

Because events appear randomly, each playthrough develops differently. The player must adapt to changing circumstances and decide which risks are worth taking. Sending a family member outside the shelter may bring valuable supplies but can also expose them to danger.

60 Seconds focuses on resource management and decision-making under pressure. The initial scavenging phase determines the starting conditions, while the shelter phase challenges players to survive through careful planning. By managing resources, responding to events, and making strategic choices, players attempt to keep the family alive until rescue or another possible ending occurs.
