VHOLUME makes navigation itself the main challenge, placing Robert inside a capital where almost every district can be approached as a parkour course. His family has lost its ration tickets, and restoring them means traveling through territory controlled by the Ministry. The story follows this journey across the city, but progression mainly happens through movement. Each new area gives the player another environment to read, cross, and eventually understand well enough to move through without unnecessary stops.

Robert’s basic abilities include running, jumping, climbing, and sliding. These actions can be linked together, so maintaining momentum becomes an important skill. A level rarely feels like a simple straight corridor. Instead, players deal with walls, gaps, elevated platforms, narrow passages, and structures that can be used in several ways. The first route found may be safe, but later attempts often reveal a faster sequence of jumps or a shortcut that removes part of the original path.
The journey changes its surroundings regularly, moving through residential, administrative, underground, industrial, and overgrown spaces. Some sections are dense and vertical, while others give the player more room to build speed. Optional areas and collectibles also reward looking beyond the most obvious route.
Locations and challenge types include:
· apartment and condominium complexes;
· Ministry offices and government interiors;
· sewers and underground passages;
· industrial and mechanical zones;
· jungle-covered sections;
· dam and fairground areas;
· optional B-Side stages;
· hidden shortcuts and collectible routes.
Finding these extra elements can change how the player sees a level. A wall that looked like background scenery may lead to a quicker line, while an unusual side passage can contain a collectible or provide access to optional content.
VHOLUME encourages replaying stages after the basic route has been completed. Target times turn familiar areas into time trials, where small mistakes and pauses become more noticeable. Ghost runs can show another player moving through the same space, making them useful for spotting techniques or shortcuts that are easy to miss during normal exploration.
The main progression therefore comes from knowledge as much as reflexes. Early attempts are about reaching the end, but later ones focus on doing it more efficiently. Players learn which jumps preserve speed, where climbing can be avoided, when sliding is useful, and which surfaces connect into a cleaner route. With practice, each stage becomes less about searching for the exit and more about creating a continuous movement line from start to finish.
